Content & Community Guidelines

Last updated: September 2026 · Version 1.1

Contents

1. Purpose

tabble is built on trust between diners and restaurants. These Guidelines explain what is and isn’t allowed when posting reviews, photos, Tabbs, Stories, comments, and messages. They apply to every User, Blogger, and Restaurant Owner account. These Guidelines work alongside the tabble Terms of Service (TBL-TOS-002) — where the two overlap, the more specific rule here applies to content moderation decisions.

2. Our approach to moderation

  • tabble uses automated checks, user reporting, and manual review by our team
  • Any user can report content via the in-app Report option
  • Restaurant owners can report reviews for policy violations but cannot delete or hide genuine reviews themselves
  • Reported content is reviewed within 2 business days under normal circumstances
  • Content presenting an immediate safety risk is removed immediately, without waiting for the standard review cycle

3. Reviews

3.1 What makes a genuine review

A review must reflect the reviewer’s own, real dining experience at the specific restaurant being reviewed.

3.2 Prohibited review conduct

Not allowedWhy
Reviewing your own restaurantOwners, staff, and close associates cannot review their own venue
Reviewing a competitor in bad faithReviews must reflect a genuine visit, not sabotage
Paid or incentivised reviews without disclosureMust be clearly disclosed or are not permitted
Coordinated review campaignsManipulates the rating system for other users
Reviews with no dining experienceMust be based on the actual food/service experience

3.3 Restaurant owner responses

Owners may publicly respond to any review of their venue once. Responses must be professional, with no harassment or personal attacks. Owners who believe a review breaches these Guidelines should use the Report function.

4. Photos, Tabbs & Stories

4.1 Encouraged

  • Original photos/videos you personally took
  • Honest representation of dishes and portions
  • Creative content that helps other diners discover food

4.2 Prohibited

  • Sexually explicit or gratuitously graphic content
  • Hate speech or attacks based on a protected characteristic

  • Content infringing another person’s copyright (see our Copyright & Takedown Policy)
  • Deceptively edited photos presented as unaltered
  • Content featuring identifiable minors without guardian consent
  • Spam or repeated posting of the same content

5. Comments & messages

  • Harassment or targeted abuse is not permitted, in comments or private messages
  • Unsolicited commercial messages via tabble’s messaging feature are not permitted
  • Impersonating another person, restaurant, or tabble staff is not permitted
  • Sharing another user’s private information without consent (“doxxing”) is strictly prohibited

6. Restaurant profile content

Restaurant owners publishing to their own listing must ensure accuracy, consistent with the Australian Consumer Law:

  • Accurate pricing and menu descriptions
  • Accurate representation of dishes in photos
  • Clear disclosure of time-limited offers
  • No false claims about awards or certifications
  • Dietary/allergen tags must reflect the restaurant’s actual offering to the best of their knowledge

7. Consequences of violations
